“It is hard to express yourself with words when you have spent a lifetime expressing yourself with your hands. I started learning to make pots when I was fourteen and I’m still learning. I make functional stoneware for everyday use in my studio in Tatamagouche. It was while I was sitting on a rocky beach in Cape Breton, during the Cabot Trail Writer’s Festival, that I thought about using glass in my pots. In my family we’ve always referred to beach glass as mermaid’s tears ..and certainly adding glass to the pots creates an otherworldly impression. Each pot is made individually to hold a simple pleasure.”
