Our 2012 festival has come to an end. Once again, we sincerely thank the Festival Board, our guest artists, sponsors, volunteers, and attendees for a truly dynamic interchange of ideas and points of view. Whew!
Our guest artists shared their thoughts and remembrances of their visit to the Cabot Trail with us. We are pleased to share them with you here.
“The Cabot Trail Writers Festival is special for all sorts of reasons—from the fact it seamlessly incorporates music with the words, to the reality that you’re in Cape Breton in the autumn (!)—but the best part is the audience, the opportunity to be in a room full of people who truly care about writing. What a wonderful feeling for any writer!”
“I had a wonderful time at the Cabot Trail Writers Festival. I was impressed by their planning, how they managed my travel and accommodation, how they looked for feedback from attendees to make the festival ever better. As an author I was impressed by their concern to use standard Canada Council fees for appearances, workshops, and panels. I admire the work that was put in to make the festival a good experience for everyone involved, from having musical guests to providing refreshments and a relaxed atmosphere where attendees felt comfortable participating. As with all good events, everything went off without a hitch, and every concern I had was met with care and precision. As a cartoonist, it could have been possible that my work would stick out against the others, but the organizers invited authors with a shared interest in history, and my work, though a different form, fit neatly in this theme. I would recommend this festival to anyone.”
“I do sincerely wish I was able to hang out…especially after it occurred to me what a special thing this is. As nice as Friday night was, I know the overall experience could only be richer given the opportunity to drink it all in and truly feel connected to it.”
Our festival survey once again enjoyed a very high response rate. We sincerely appreciate the generosity of the artisans of the Cabot Trail for helping us by offering such delightful prizes as incentive to our visitors. Check out this year’s prize, donated by Glass Artisans Studio & Gallery.
The winner of the survey draw was Henry Lanford of Bangor, Maine (thanks for letting us post your name!). We thank him and all respondents for taking the time to help us review our work.
