Our 2011 festival was, according to our visitors, inspiring. Once again, we sincerely thank the Festival Board, our guest artists, sponsors, volunteers, and attendees for coming together so serendipitously!
Our guest artists shared their thoughts and remembrances of their visit to the Cabot Trail with us. We are pleased to share them with you here.
“It is inspiring to see how, in just in a few short years, the Cabot Trail Writers Festival has developed a range of interdisciplinary events that fuse the literary arts with various other creative genres. From performances to panel discussions, art exhibits, workshops, live music concerts… this year’s festival did well to highlight the range of possibilities for literary arts programming.”
“It’s easy to support The Cabot Trail Writers Festival. What’s not to like? A beautiful setting, a strong community, great music, and a crowd of good people who care about literature in a substantial way. The festival breaks down the barriers between readers and writers, between authors who have published 10 novels and those who are working on their first short story. It shows us that we’re all in it together. The year I attended, it poured rain for two days, but you couldn’t find a dampened spirit. All Cape Bretoners and Nova Scotians should be proud. Spread the word: The Cabot Trail Writers Festival is the real deal.”
“It was a very special weekend, with lovely, engaged participants and audience members. It was well-attended with a wonderful mix of events and entertainment, and, best of all, a friendly, relaxed atmosphere. I enjoyed my time immensely—as did my friends and family who came along!”
“…My experience with the Cabot Trail Writers Festival 2011 was extremely fulfilling. Commissioning Shauntay Grant to create poems about my sculptures and then to present them at an event with the sculptures on display proved to be very enlightening. It was magical to hear her poems for the first (and last) time at the event! Interestingly, she was able to articulate much that I had been thinking about as I worked on my pieces; I felt that attendees were given an opportunity to access and see my work through another doorway. One visitor told me “I feel my mind has been expanded.” And I believe others at this gala felt the same.
“My interaction and work with the Festival organizers and volunteers, and especially Ms. Grant, was highly professional, and enjoyable. It is my sincere hope that the Cabot Trail Writers Festival continues and flourishes well into the future. Events like this show how much of an impact a few visionary and dedicated people can have.”
Our festival survey once again enjoyed a very high response rate. We sincerely appreciate the generosity of the artisans of the Cabot Trail for helping us by offering such delightful prizes as incentive to our visitors. Check out this year’s prize, donated by Leather Works by John C. Roberts.
The winner of the survey draw was Judy Kaiser of Forchu, Cape Breton. We thank her and all respondents for taking the time to help us review our work.
Mark your calendars for the fourth annual Cabot Trail Writers’ Festival, scheduled for September 28 through 30, 2012.
