Sheree at School
Sheree Fitch, author of over 25 books in many genres, beloved as a children's and young-adults author, well known as an educator, will preface her appearance at our festival with a special workshop for some lucky local high-school students.
We're very happy that Sheree agreed to present this opportunity for young writers in our community, a group of students from grades ten, eleven, and twelve at Baddeck Academy. Both they and their teacher, Mrs. MacLean, are looking forward to the day with high anticipation.
Although this presentation is not open to registration from outside the school, we thought we'd mention the details anyway. It's good to know that writers are out there sharing with all of us, and the idea may spark other good ideas among our festival participants.
Writing For Real
In this hands-on workshop, Sheree will offer guided exercises focusing on authentic voice and vision.
- How do we as writers find our true voices, and express the truth as we understand it?
- How do we get from ideas and feelings to the actual writing?
- What about revision?
Sheree will also offer some ideas from her new book on writing,
Breathe, Stretch, Write (Pembroke,
October 2010), and will read from her just-released teen novel
Pluto's Ghost
(Doubleday, September 2010).
Sheree's workshop is scheduled for Thursday 30 September, from 1:00 pm to 2:45 pm.
