Special Events
This year, the Cabot Trail Writers Festival produced four wildly varied "satellite events" that highlighted different kinds of writing, and got us all thinking about how lucky we are to have ready access to such talented authors.
They also got us thinking a little "outside the box" for the festival itself. And so, the festival is proud to sponsor some very special events that go beyond the regular (yes, it's our second year!) features of our festival.
Sheree at School
Sheree Fitch, beloved children's and young-adults author, has always been interested and involved in education. It seemed too good an opportunity to miss taking advantage of having her nearby, and so we didn't! Before the festival gets under way this year, Sheree will present a special workshop for local high-school students in the village of Baddeck. Both school and students are very anxious for the day to arrive...
Book Fair and Café
On the afternoon of Saturday 2 October, during the festival, we will host a Book Fair featuring local authors and a café. The Book Fair is open to the public, with no admission fee.
Vision — Debut Performance
On Saturday evening, we present the debut performance of a specially commissioned dramatic adaptation of Alistair MacLeod's short story Vision. Written and directed by Bev Brett, and featuring well-known local actors, this is sure to be a highlight.
Whew! As if this festival wasn't already amazing!
