The Story
Second Annual Cabot Trail Writers' Festival
(North River Bridge, NS) The second annual Cabot Trail Writers Festival will open this fall in North River, Cape Breton. The festival will run Friday 1 – Sunday 3 October 2010, on the weekend leading up to Celtic Colours International Festival.
This year's lineup of award-winning authors includes Michael Crummey, author of River Thieves and Galore, Marq de Villiers, author of Water: The Fate of Our Most Precious Resource and Witch in the Wind: The True Story of the Bluenose, and Sheree Fitch, author of Kiss the Joy As It Flies and Sleeping Dragons All Around.
The Festival will include readings, workshops, and a moderated panel discussion. As well, singer/songwriter Carmel Mikol will close the Festival with a performance at Sunday Brunch.
On Saturday 2 October, the Festival will host an all-day book fair and café, featuring the books of local authors. The book fair will be open to the public—attendance at the Festival not required.
The 2010 Festival will be held at the North River Community Hall in North River, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia. It's hard to imagine a more inspiring venue in which to read, write, share music, and enjoy each other's company. Last year's inaugural festival was a tremendous success, with most events selling out; the location beside the North River, and the beauty of the fall season played no small part in that success.
